Get off the Beaten Path in Boston this Fall
Here in Boston the leaves are the perfect, picturesque oranges, reds, and yellows, and a cozy sweater and a hot latte are the perfect accompaniments for the crisp, cool air. Basically we’re in the meat of fall here in New England and all we want to do is be out and about enjoying it before we have to hibernate for winter and trudge through snow.
Boston is full of fun activities to do in the fall and people come from all over to peep the leaves here. If you want to get away from some of the hustle and bustle of city life but still enjoy all that fall has to offer then you’re in luck! We’ve got a list of fall activities that will get you off the beaten path. Have fun!
Take A Fall Foliage Brunch Cruise
Take in the incredible fall scenery while enjoying brunch on a boat! Jump aboard the Northern Lights for a 2.5 hour brunch cruise on the Charles River. Sipping mimosas, on a boat, with fall leaves all around, YES PLEASE!
Fall Harvest Afternoon Tea at Mandarin Oriental
Head to the Mandarin Oriental Hotel for their seasonal Fall Harvest Afternoon Tea, hosted every day from 1pm-5pm throughout fall. The tea includes a glass of champagne, a selection of aromatic teas, and a variety of sweet and savory items in-keeping with the teas theme. They have a fireplace for you to cozy up to or you can lounge on one of their sofas. You won’t want to leave!
Take A Bites of Boston Walking Food Tour
Join Bites of Boston Food Tours for a walking neighborhood food tour. This is the perfect time of year to be out and about walking and enjoying the fall scenery. Of course eating all along the way makes it even better! You’ll learn about some of the rich history in whatever neighborhood you choose and taste some of the best bites Boston has to offer. What better way to spend a fall afternoon?
See A Movie at Coolidge Corner Theater
Rather than going to your typical, modern movie theater, catch a film at the historic Coolidge Corner Theater. This beloved neighborhood theater has been screening films new and old, big and small, for many years. Be sure to check out their offerings and stop by for a show the next time you are craving a movie night.
Shop at Bodega
This unassuming little bodega located on a side street near Berklee College of Music is actually one of Boston’s trendiest clothing stores. You’d never know it by the entrance, which looks like a true bodega, packed with food and other dried goods. Keep walking further in and you will soon emerge through a door into the actual store. Make sure to grab some pictures while you’re there too!
Visit the Kendall Square Roof Garden
If you want to feel a little nature getaway but not travel out of the city then head to the Kendall Square Rooftop Garden for a little taste of nature. This beautiful space is located right on top of the Green Garage. It is filled with paths, grassy areas, trees, and benches. They often hold events up there so keep your eyes out for what they might have going on. It’s a getaway without having to get away.
