The Best Pumpkin Desserts in Boston!
Move aside PSL, you’ve got competition! Now before everyone starts sending us hate mail, don’t get us wrong we loveee a good PSL however we also love sweet pumpkin treats that we can sink our teeth into. Honestly, we’d devour any one of the sweet pumpkin treats on this list in probably under five minutes. Let the gourd times roll!
This is the ultimate decadent fall dessert combination and we are not surprised that it comes to us by way of Lincoln Tavern, who is always going over-the-top with their desserts. This Caramel Pumpkin Spice Cheesecake is topped with salted caramel, cinnamon whipped cream, and an espresso cookie crumble. We’ll take 10. Thanks.
For anyone who thinks ice cream is a summer-only indulgence, check your self please. The fall flavors menu at FoMu is something we wait all year for! Their Pumpkin Caramel Pie ‘Ice Cream’ (we put quotations around the ice cream because it’s actually plant-based but shhhh you’d never ever know) is one of the best ice cream flavors we have ever tasted. Creamy and thick pumpkin spice ice cream is flecked with house made gluten-free pie crust and swirled with from-scratch caramel. Swoon.
Just when you we thought a cinnamon roll couldn’t get any better, Union Square Donuts has gone and done it! This seasonal cinnamon roll is topped with a pumpkin cream cheese frosting and finished with a pecan praline. It’s honestly one of the best things you’ll put in your mouth this fall. We don’t suggest sharing.
We are completely obsessed with everything about this Pumpkin Pie Fudge from Hilliards Chocolates – one of our newest gift box partners! This seasonal delicacy has a delightful “Pumpkin Pie” taste in an adorable little pie tin. The Pumpkin Fudge is made by hand in Hilliards’ copper kettles in small batches and as always with the best fresh real ingredients. Their staff look forward to hand-ribboning each little pie tin every fall, which makes it that much sweeter!
If it’s coming out of Sofra’s kitchen…we want it…LOTS OF IT! One of their special sweet pumpkin treats this season is homemade pumpkin jam nestled inside flaky pastry to make a Pumpkin Jam Turnover. It’s everything we love about fall in one little pastry package. They look forward to fall every year when they can get their favorite Long Island Cheese Pumpkins to make their coveted pumpkin jam.
OK, even though you can’t necessarily ‘sink your teeth’ into this one, we argue that you may have to in order to get through the mountain of pumpkin pie whipped cream, yes, we said pumpkin pie whipped cream. As per usual, Capo in Boston’s Southie neighborhood is killing the seasonal drink game. Their Pumpkin Espresso Martini has Vodka, Capo Cold Brew, Galliano Espresso, Cacao, and House Made pumpkin pie whipped cream. It’s a T R E A T.
Another local bakery that we have major heart eyes for is Clear Flour Bread in Brookline. We don’t know how they manage whip up so many delicious treats out of their tiny kitchen, but somehow they continue to wow us every season. They are constantly doing specials such as this Pumpkin Spice Chai Bread Pudding with Toasted Meringue on top. While this may not be there when you go and pay them a visit, we can assure you that something equally as incredible will be, so go and check it out!
Dessert for Breakfast? We think YES!
This popular breakfast spot actually keeps this dish on the menu year round so you can get your AM pumpkin fix any time you need it. Their house made pumpkin bread is grilled to perfection and topped with their signature sweet cream cheese, and garnished with powdered sugar and their Allspice Dulce de Leche. It’s decadent. It screams fall breakfast. It’s a MUST HAVE.
Honestly, any filled breakfast pastry or menu item has our attention, especially in fall. The Friendly Toast is known for its over-the-top large plates of breakfast treats and their October special is hitting in all the right ways. Their Pumpkin Pancakes are filled with a Brown Sugar Crumble and Topped with Maple Whipped Cream, Caramel, and Extra Brown Sugar Crumble. They’re waiting for you. Go get them!
