Enjoy A Staycation in Boston
If you’ve been itching to travel but can’t leave your state due to COVID-19 restrictions, we’ve got a plan! Plan and enjoy the perfect staycation (in your state). You can have fun in your hometown without even having to travel out of state.
All the fun of planning and doing without having the stress of traveling!
We’re going with the boat, bike, bite theme, getting active but making sure there’s delicious food along the way. Our favorite kind of vacation!
Check out our fun list of boat, bike, and bite ideas here in Boston and get ready to STAYCATION!
1. BOAT: Paddle Boston
Join Paddle Boston for a canoe or kayak adventure on the Charles River. You can sign up for a guided group tour or just rent the boats on your own for an afternoon or evening. This is great for the active traveler who likes to get out there, explore, and enjoy nature. Here you can do so locally! Make sure to reserve your spot ahead of time.
2. BIKE: Urban AdvenTours Bike Tour
Hop on a colorful bike and ride around town in style with Urban AdvenTours. They offer several different bike tours around Boston daily at 10am. Sign up the day before by 6pm to reserve your spot and glide through as you enjoy gorgeous views of Boston. Great for the solo or group adventurer.
3. BITE: Bites of Boston Walking Food Tour
Get out and explore your city through your stomach! Is there any other way to travel? NOPE! We fully believe that following our appetites is the best guide to travel. Do so locally with Bites of Boston Food Tours. We are currently running two of our walking neighborhood food tours, the Classic Bites of Boston Tour and the Sweet & Savory South End Tour. You will learn rich and fun history about these neighborhoods as well as the restaurants and restauranteurs we visit, get out and walk, and taste some of the best bites the restaurants have to offer.
4. BOAT: Boston Harbor Cruises Sunset Cruise
Join Boston Harbor Cruises for a lovely sunset cruise around Boston Harbor and enjoy a bit of history and the majestic Boston skyline at sunset. This 90-minute tour introduces you to the lore and allure of Boston Harbor past and present, including the USS Constitution’s traditional ritual as she fires her cannon and lowers her flag to signal the day’s end. It might not be the tropical cruise you were looking for but it is a great way to try something different, stay local, and get out on the water!
5. BIKE: Benefit Ride with Landry’s
While the local Landry’s Bicycles is not currently offering their frequent Group Rides, they are still hosting Benefit Rides. If you want to get out and do some good on your staycation then sign up for a Benefit Ride. They have options all through September and October so there’s plenty of options!
6. BITE: Bites of Boston Gift Box
Want the pampering of a vacation but without the travel? Or the fun of s’mores over the campfire without having to build a fire? We’ve got you covered! Order yourself a Bites of Boston Gift Box and bring the staycation to your home. That’s as local as it gets! The Bites of Boston Gift Boxes are a pivot project that we started when quarantine first hit. It was our opportunity to still work with and support other local, small, Boston businesses since we couldn’t run our food tours. Now that we are back running tours the boxes are still a wonderful opportunity to support these businesses and to get a taste of Boston from your home.
We’ve got a whole collection, some of which include: The Bites of Boston Self-Care Box, the Seasonal Local Mocha S’Mores Gift Box, the Black-Owned Boston Business Box, the Bites of Boston “Beantown” Coffee Lovers Box and MORE!
