Any time we get to gush over ice cream is a great day, hence why August is one of our favorite months. When the heat waves are real and eating ice cream every day is absolutely acceptable, encouraged in fact, is when we are in our glory. Boston has the great fortune of being home to so many awesome local ice cream shops. While they are not on this list, we tip our hats spoons to the beloved J.P. Licks who has been scooping up delicious ice cream all over Boston for years.
Cool down with a cone or a cup at one of our favorite ten spots. We just have one rule, always get two different flavors, please and thank you. Raise a cone to summer, but quick, eat it before it melts everywhere!
Toscanini’s
Toscanini’s is by far our favorite ice cream in Boston, we could go on and on but will spare you. What we will say is that they don’t skimp on the chunks and toppings, that’s how they really won our heart. You have to try the B3 (brown butter, brown sugar, brownie)

Christina’s
This Inman Square gem serves up a long list of flavors. They have all the classics and some that you may have not tried before like Adzuki Bean and Bailey’s Irish cream.

Lizzy’s
They had us at sprinkle cone but this little spot that’s tucked away in Harvard Square offers a wide variety of flavors and to make them even cooler they offer sundae parties…yes please.

Fomu
Fomu is near and dear to our hearts. They have perfected dairy-free ice cream that could fool any dairy-lover. This thick, luscious ice cream (don’t freak out) is totally vegan!

Honeycomb Creamery
This is one of the newest ice cream spots getting all the attention in Boston, and their flavors are anything but typical. They are a small-batch ice cream parlor stirring up seasonal tastes with local dairy. Their summer seasonals include: Basil Goat Cheese, Blueberry Sour Cream, Strawberry Lemonade, S’mores, and Sweet Corn with Blackberry Jam. Swoon.

Tipping Cow
This Somerville scoopery is channeling their creative energy into “offbeat” ice cream flavors such as Irish Stout, Ginger Berry, and Cinnamon & Oatmeal and we thank them kindly.

Crescent Ridge
Crescent Ridge makes ice cream from milk that comes from their very own farm in Sharon, MA. They’re the real deal! If you find yourself at Boston Public Market be sure to pay them a visit.

The Cookie Monstah
To put it lightly we are mildly obsessed with ice cream sandwiches. For ice cream that is WELL-stuffed between two soft cookies hunt down the Cookie Monstah’s food truck. You can’t miss it, it’s big and blue and has a huge ice cream sandwich painted on the side. We only have eyes for trucks that looks like this.
Storefront

Forge Ice Cream Bar
From the owners of Forge Baking Company comes Force Ice Cream Bar. It was a natural decision for them to start whipping up ice cream and we are so glad they did! Extra chocolate sauce on ours please.

Phone: 617-764-5365
Picco
Picco is a restaurant in the South End making all it’s ice cream in-house. This is definitely a place to go for the chocolate and since they are a restaurant, why not have a glass of red wine as well? Seems like a no-brainer!
