Fall is officially here, and even though it doesn’t feel like it outside we’re not letting the lingering warm weather stop us from reveling in all the sugar and spice of the season. Apples are in their prime and while we’ve waited to bite into a crisp one fresh off the tree, we’re also jumping for joy that it’s time to enjoy apple-filled desserts, of which there are many to choose from. To help you celebrate the season we’ve done some extensive research on the topic. We’ve picked seven apple desserts in Boston to highlight, one for each day of the week. It’s doctor’s orders so we suggest you try them all.
Apple Crisp Doughnut from Union Square Doughnuts
Apple crisp, meet doughnut. Two of our favorite desserts become one in this perfectly executed doughnut. The fluffly, lightly spiced round of dough is covered in an apple-cinnamon glaze and topped with a hefty handful of crumble…aka the good stuff. This doughnut is the poster child of fall and we’re all for it.

Apple Bread Pudding from Stephi’s on Tremont
Bread pudding is the ultimate comfort, especially when the cool weather begins to set in. Who knows when that will happen but when it does Stephi’s on Tremont is prepared with their decadent, apple bread pudding. Something magical happens when bread is baked with custard, and adding apples to the mix only elevates that.

Apple Cider Doughnut Ice Cream from Fomu
We have stalked Fomu’s Instagram waiting for them to announce the arrival of their apple cider doughnut ice cream, and the time has come! It’s here. This ice cream spot is becoming more well-known in the city of Boston for serving up some of the best textured and flavored vegan ice cream out there. Thick apple cider ice cream made from local apples is studded with chunks of apple cider doughnuts. This ice cream is not messing around.

Apple Crumb Pie from Petsi Pies
This local shop is dedicated to pie perfection. Apple pie is offered year-round but this is its moment to shine. Petsi makes two kinds of apple pie, classic apple pie with a pastry top and one with a crumble topping. Both scream fall and we’re listening! We’re a big fan of the crumble topping because it’s the best of both worlds—buttery pie dough on the bottom and sugary nuggets of butter crumb on top. Swoon.

Classic Apple Pie from Flour Bakery
The beloved Flour Bakery is showing fall who’s boss with their mountainous slices of apple pie with flaky, golden crust. This is an eye-bulging piece of pie and we suggest you get one as soon as possible! They also offer an apple snacking spice cake that sings the tune of fall quite well.

Apple Streudel from Henrietta’s Table
Just hearing the name apple streudel makes us feel warm and fuzzy. Henrietta’s Table does this comforting dessert with homemade puff pastry surrounding baked apples, doused in caramel sauce, and served with vanilla ice cream and dried apple chips….YES PLEASE.

Bonus: Any and All Apple Desserts from Clear Flour Bread
If you haven’t quite gotten your apple fix, we want to take this time to mention one of our favorite bakeries in the city—Clear Flour Bread. They’re baking up a variety of apple desserts on a daily basis throughout fall and we’re wild for them all. Things we’ve tried so far (and love) include: Apple Cider Macarons, Apple Crumb Tart, Almond & Apple Brioche, Normandy Apple Tart, and Apple Bread Pudding. Just remember…..an apple a day (*wink*).
