If you have already bought your glittery 2017 sunglasses and have your favorite champagne flute all shined up and ready to toast out this doozy of a year, you are not alone. We too have 2017 on our minds; and to help you welcome it in, we have food-forward thoughts (of course!). We all know that Boston is a great place to “paaah-tay,” so if you are still trying to find a place to celebrate, we are here to help! Our friends at Boston Chefs have composed an excellent list of restaurants that are participating in New Year’s Eve festivities; but this list is long, so to make things a little easier we have chosen to highlight five of our favorite places.
1. The Beehive
This South End favorite is known for its jazz brunches and enticing menu. They are ready to put their party hats on as they host a Modern-Retro New Year’s Eve Speakeasy party from 5pm-2am. They are calling it “Glam-tastic and Champagne-soaked”…sign us up! Chef Gregory Torrech will be offering an a la carte menu from 5pm-8pm (see it here) and then a three-course prix fixe menu starting at 9pm. You’ll be able to boogie the night away to live music, and a little later on Rebecca the belly dancer will be making an appearance. You can buy tickets online at Eventbrite. (Disclaimer: champagne may or may not enhance your dancing skills, effects do not work on everyone).

2. Hojoko
If you want to feel like a really cool cat this New Year’s Eve, head to Hojoko, located in the Verb Hotel in the Fenway neighborhood. They too are hosting a party and your name should be on the list. This Asian-fusion spot is always ready to throw a party so why not party with them on the biggest party day of the year? They will be ready with a live DJ, a champagne toast at midnight, and all the good vibes to make you feel like this party was thrown just for you. Tickets can be purchased at Eventbrite and include two free drink tickets and passed food all night long. Gratuity, tax and the Eventbrite fee are also included. This party will be bumping from 9pm-2am, so don’t miss it!

3. Craigie on Main
If you’re feeling like sporting your fancy pants this New Year’s Eve, consider spending the night at Central Square’s iconic restaurant, and one of our favorites—Craigie on Main. With their open kitchen, excellent service and dimly lit ambiance, Craigie is a great place to get dressed up but still feel laid back. While they are known for their whole roasted pig’s head, this evening will be all about a unique tasting menu that they are offering with an optional wine pairing…but is the wine really an option on New Year’s Eve? There will be two seatings; the first being for the early birds that includes the times, 6:00pm, 6:30pm, and 7:00pm. Here they will offer a four-course dinner for $130 with wine pairings for $69. You can reserve here for one of these times. If you want to head out later in the evening, the second seating will include the times of 9:00pm, 9:30pm, and 10:00pm. Since you took all that extra time to get ready, they are offering you night-goers a six-course feast and a champagne toast. Dinner will be $160 with wine pairings for $79. You can reserve here.

4. B&G Oysters
If you are still feeling fancy but want to enjoy a classic New England seafood-filled feast, then head to our friends at B&G Oysters in the South End. What better way to lead up to that perfect midnight kiss than to spend the evening sipping champagne and eating oysters? We highly suggest it. B&G is offering two separate tasting menus for two separate seating periods. The first seating will range from 5pm-8:30pm, while the second seating will be from 9:30pm-10pm. 5. Fairsted Kitchen
If you are more the type for an intimate evening at a small, neighborhood spot, then cozy up at Fairsted Kitchen in Brookline. This quaint space offers some incredibly tasty food and drinks, and is ideal for a quiet evening, but since this is New Year’s Eve we are talking about, who knows what might happen. Dinner will be served from 5:00pm–11:00pm. They will be offering a special four-course Chef’s Choice tasting menu that will be served to the whole table ($45 for a vegetarian meal and $55 for an omnivorous one). Their full dinner menu will also be available and the bar will be pouring until 2am. While this party may be a bit smaller, the fun will still be big! 6. Eataly
Another great option to consider this New Year’s Eve is Eataly’s newly opened Boston location. They are hosting a seafood feast at Il Pesce, right in the center of the market space. This hot spot, brought to the city by Mario Batali and Barbara Lynch, has been bombarded since their opening, so this is a great opportunity to reserve a spot and enjoy what they are serving up. There will be two seatings; one spanning from 5pm to 5:45pm and the other from 8pm to 8:45pm. Lynch is responsible for the menu, and a wine pairing, put together by expert sommeliers, is available upon request. Book your spot here!
